Sidney Whale Watching

Breaching, spyhopping, bow riding, tail slapping- if these terms aren't familiar to you, it probably means you haven't been on a whale watching tour.
What are you waiting for? Sidney Whale Watching (formerly SeaQuest and Emerald Sea) is located in the Cannery Building at the foot of Beacon Avenue, offers three to three and a half hour tours and they start right from Sidney's waterfront! Sidney Whale Watching is the closest company to the whale foraging grounds which means less travel time and more whale time!
Our coastline is home to the Southern Resident J, K and L pods of killer whales, numbering approximately 90 altogether. Whale sightings on the tours are guaranteed during the summer months and often occur within the first 20 minutes of leaving shore.
As well as orcas, there are often sightings of minke, humpback and grey whales. Nearby islands are home to seal colonies and porpoise feeding grounds and sea lions can be seen basking on sun-warmed rocks. Don't be surprised to find a bald eagle soaring above either!
